If you have been following the Makers Muse channel closely, you would know that presenter Angus loves both combat robots and 3D Printing. With a background in engineering, robotics and 3D Printing, it makes perfect sense that he would combine all these skills into one project; an off road robot.
Polymaker have been at the forefront of material development for 3D Printing, pathing the way for low temperature PC materials with their PC-Max filament and introducing a new category of polishable 3D Printing filaments with PolySmooth and the Polysher. To showcase their material portfolio, Angus organised to print this project exclusively using Polymaker materials.
Designed in Fusion 360, the robot was printed in PC-Max; an optimised PC material perfect for real world engineering applications, PolyMax PLA; A strength modified PLA with excellent durability, PolyFlex; an easy to use flexible material, and lastly Angus used a prototype of a new material called Polymaker Nylon.
While this test doesn't come close to breaking the limits of what these materials are capable of, Angus has mentioned plans to continuously update this project. Maybe one day we will see a fighting combat robot printed in Polymaker materials?

In true maker style, Angus has made this whole project open source so if you would like you can download the files and try this robot out for yourself! The files have been released under a "pay what you want" model, so you can either download them right away for free or if you want to help support Angus you can throw some Australian dollars his way.
