PolyWood mimics wood structurally without the hassles of Nozzle-Jams!

PolyWood is a first of its kind wood-like filament made with no real wood! Polymaker developed a unique foaming technique that stabilizes the air bubbles inside the material, mimicking the structure of real wood. This porous structure is maintained during and after printing. Due to its unique makeup, PolyWood is 35- 40% lighter than regular PLA. Aside from printing things that look like beautiful wood carvings, these unique properties could be used to print objects for potential applications including damping devices (sound insulation, anti-vibration), lightweight structures, membrane and with its post processing potential even watertight models.

Other wood-like materials on the market use wood powder which can cause nozzle Jams. Because PolyWood uses no wood-polymer composites, you can print excellent quality prints without the risk of nozzle jams!

Wood with no mess

Most Woodlike materials on the market combine wood powder and polymer, these binder additives can be abrasive on your nozzle, mess up the flow properties of the material resulting in poor printing quality and in some cases, poorly dispersed powder can even jam your nozzle. Instead of using wood to mimic wood, Polymaker developed a unique foaming technology to manufacture PolyWood, a material composed entirely of polymers that mimics wood structurally. The results speak for themselves, excellent print quality without the risk of nozzle jams.

Light Weight

Due to its unique makeup, PolyWood is 35- 40% lighter than regular PLA, achieving that light weight nature of natural wood! Fantastic Appearance

The foamed structure of PolyWood helps to minimise the visual layering visible on the surface of 3D printed parts. This is something that hasn’t been obtainable with other 3D printing materials.
